Who are the Moomins?

The Moomins, also known as ‘Mumin’ or ‘Mumintrollen’ in Swedish, are the main characters in the popular books and comics written by Tove Jansson, a Swedish-Finn illustrator and author.
They are an adventurous family of white round-bodied trolls who are always out exploring with their various friends.

The Moomin family live in their house in Moominvalley, an idyllic and peaceful setting located beside the seaside and mountains.

The main Moomin family are Moomintroll or ‘Moomin’, Moominpappa and Moominmamma. In addition, some of the other popular characters from the Moomin stories include: Little My, Sniff, Snork Maiden, Snufkin, Mymble, Groke, Snork, Too-ticky and Stinky.
