With its graphic letter products, the Danish brand Design Letters has taken the world by storm and laid the foundation for the typographic trend that has become so popular in recent years. The characteristic letters are found today on bowls, cups, cutlery and kitchen towels among other household items.
Former interior journalist and copywriter Mette Thomsen founded Design Letters in 2009. As she had always had a great passion for fonts and letters, the business idea was clear: She would create playful and stylish products with a modern, graphic design and clear connection to letters.
The first product was launched as a series of wooden letters for the wall, but the big breakthrough came only a few years later, when Design Letters got the rights to use the architect Arne Jacobsen’s classic font from 1937.
The font that was originally designed for Aarhus City Hall was applied to all products from lunch boxes and drinking bottles to coffee mugs and espresso cups.
Over time, Design Letters have expanded their range with other Arne Jacobsen motifs. The popular typographic elements are constantly complemented with new and interesting interior products making Design Letters constantly relevant.
Arne Jacobsen was one of Denmark’s most famous designers and is considered a pioneer in functionalism. It was his grandson, Tobias Jacobsen, who designed the cups with his father’s letters on them for Design Letters.
With the children’s tableware from Design Letters, you can introduce the joy of letters and the alphabet at an early age to your children. The plates, bowls and children’s cutlery are the perfect way to practice the alphabet in a playful and fun way during an afternoon snack or at lunch.
In addition, the many of the children’s tableware items in their assortment is made of melamine, which is a hard durable material that will not break when dropped. It is also dishwasher proof up to 70 °C.
The children’s tableware is also available as a gift set and can make a thoughtful present to families with children.
Design Letters laid the foundation for interior design with letters not just for children. Interior and products with letters make it easy to create more personal homes.
In the Design Letter assortment, you can choose products with a single letter as well as products with playful words and sayings.
