About Essem Design

The story behind Essem Design takes us back to 1937 on a rainy autumn evening in a small town in Sweden called Anderstorp. Gunnar Bohlin was busy working at his desk on an idea for a hat stand that was made from melted aluminium. This became the starting point for Skoglungs metal works, which in 2002 took the name Essem Design. For almost a century, the Swedish design brand has been associated with simple, functional hallway furniture such as storage baskets, shoe racks and coat hangers.
