ester & erik is a family business founded in 1987 by the Danish couple Ester and Erik Møller.
This highly appreciated brand is well-known for its wide range of elegant taper candles and stylish candleholders , that make beautiful interior details for any home.
In their large assortment, you will find candles in many different colours and sizes along with matching ester & erik candles holders in stainless steel.
The dream of producing unique handmade candles came to Erik Møller after he had worked for over a decade in the candle industry as an export salesman, where he gained extensive knowledge on materials, decoration and exports of candles.
Together with his wife, Ester, they established the company ester & erik, with the vision of spreading warmth, light and beauty though unique hand-made candles.
Ester and Erik wanted to preserve the long tradition of making candles by hand as well as create a high-quality product with an exclusive design. Since then, the brand has refined the old production method and developed their own design concept for modern lifestyles and home.
ester & erik’s logo, with a heart in the middle, not only represents the couple’s fondness for each other, but also for their shared love of candles. ester & erik’s vision is to pass on their love and warmth to others through their beautifully designed candles.
All ester & erik candles are produced in Silkeborg, Denmark. The entire production process is focused on two criteria: the quality of the raw materials and the final appearance of the candles.
A candle from ester & erik takes about 4-5 hours to cast and they are dipped 24-25 times in hot paraffin wax to achieve the perfect shape. After they have cooled down for 2 hours, they are coloured and then possibly varnished. In every step of the production process, ester & erik perform quality checks to ensure that all parts of the production meet their high standards, including the frames, wax, colour and packaging.
Candles from ester & erik are made entirely of natural materials. The wax used for the candles is 100% paraffin wax and the wicks are made from pure cotton. All dyes and lacquers used are water-based and free from acetone or aniline.
For frames that can hold up to 66 candles, the ester & ester cone candles are hand-dipped in coloured wax. The hand-dipping process allows for top quality results as each candle can be checked to ensure that they are free of dirt and have a smooth surface before re-dipping. Certain colours which bind faster to the wax need to be removed sooner than others and so by dipping by hand, the candles are produced with the best results.
ester & erik candles have a burning time of 8 hours.
Sustainability and the use of raw materials are important to ester & erik. They have been using sustainable materials free of artificial additives since the start of the company 30 years ago and continue to do so today. The candles are packed in FSC-certified packaging and the frames for casting the candles are also made of recycled plastic.
In ester & eriks assortment of candles, you will be able to choose from over 85 different colours, both matte and lacquered. Several of the most popular ester & erik candle colours include pale pink, mild green and wine red just to name a few.
ester & erik are always working to expand their colour chart and are continuously adding new shades and tints to their collection.
Even today, the love of candles, raw materials and traditional production is the main motivation of Søren Møller, the son of Ester and Erik, who took over the brand in 2001.
The experience and expertise of this family business, combined with the unique and elegant design and special production methods, make candles from ester & erik something very special.
