About Finlayson

With a history dating back to 1820, Finlayson is one of Finland’s oldest textile companies. Ever since the start, the vision has been to manufacture soft, luxurious textiles in a sustainable and responsible way.

Finlayson was founded by the Scotsman James Finlayson in Tampere, Finland, and then consisted only of a small cotton spinning mill. When the new owners took over 16 years later, a large new factory was built equipped with modern machines. It was not long before Finlayson was one of Scandinavia’s largest industrial companies.

A campaign sparked to collect used textiles has become an integral part of Finlayson’s operating model. Today, Finlayson use recycled materials in manufacturing of many of their products.

27% of Finlayson’s textiles are produced in Europe and 66% in Turkey. Finlayson works closely with organisations such as Work Ahead, which campaigns for fair working conditions.
