Cutlery from Gense has made the world a little more beautiful since 1856 with their high-quality stainless-steel cutlery from Sweden. By combining new and innovative designs with form and function, Gense creates iconic flatware that has taken the world by storm.
Over the years, Gense has launched a number of cutlery collections that are both popular and have also achieved status as design classics.
Focus de luxe was designed by Folke Arström in 1955 and has a timeless and functional design with a retro feel. The black handle is a nice contrast to the stainless steel and creates a comfortable surface to hold on to.
The cutlery ended up on the New York Times list of the 100 best design products in modern times and is also a popular collector’s item for design enthusiasts.
Gense is an abbreviation of Gustav Eriksson NySilverfabrik Eskilstuna. Gustav Eriksson is the man who founded Gense.
Gense has an extensive experience of collaborating with popular designers such as Monica Förster and Ingegerd Råman, resulting in stylish cutlery collections that have established themselves as real design classics.
Gense was established by Gustav Eriksson in 1856, initially focusing on the production of doors for tiled stoves. When his son Axel Eriksson took over in 1885, the range was expanded to cutlery and tableware in nickel and silver.
Since then, Gense has designed and produced a range of beautiful and elegant flatware that has made table settings all over the world a little more beautiful.
Gense is known for innovative and functional stainless-steel cutlery. Stainless steel is a popular material for cutlery as it is both beautiful and practical for everyday use.
In addition to stainless steel, there are several flatware collections that have handles in wood or plastic.
In Sweden, the title of ‘Kunglig Hovleverantör’, or Royal warrant of appoinment in English, is awarded to the best company in the country for their industry. In 1982, Gense was appointed ‘Kunglig Hovleverantör’ by King Carl XVI Gustafs, clear proof that their products are of the highest quality.
Most Gense cutlery can be washed in the dishwasher, however if the silverware has wooden or plastic handles then it is recommended to wash it by hand.
Always clean your Gense cutlery immediately after use as leftover food can sink in and create discolouration on your cutlery.
The cutlery should not be soaked for a long time as they can absorb moisture.
