Since the start of the business, the brushes have been tied by visually impaired craftsmen resulting in durable and functional products of exceptional quality.
Thanks to the great dedication of its employees, today the company can look back on a long successful company history.
The brushes for Iris Hantverk are made by hand from high quality natural oak, beech and birchwood. The materials of the bristles depend on the function of the brush. For example, Iris Hantverk uses goat hair for its face brushes, which is gentle and soft on the skin.
Iris Hantverk has been passionate about social commitment and supporting the visual impairment movement since the start of the business, which is still today a large part of the work at iris crafts and is close to the brands heart.
The basis of Iris Hantverk consists of the brush bindery which located in Enskede outside of Stockholm. Today, six visually impaired craftsmen from different cultures work here to tie brushes using traditional Swedish techniques.
Iris Hantverk produces a range of items in natural materials and with the right maintenance, these will only become more beautiful with time.
The brushes from Iris Hantverk should be cleaned with dishwashing liquid and warm water, then left to dry with the bristles facing down to allow the water to drain down from the wooden handle.
Occasionally, the wood can be lubricated with cooking oil or cold-pressed linseed oil, which you can apply with a soft cloth. Be sure to wait until the oil has completely dried before using the brush again.
