The Story behind Kateha

Kateha was founded in 1998 by Barbara Hosak. As the seventh generation of weavers in her family, it was natural for her to start her own business to produce exclusive handmade carpets.

What does the word Kateha mean?

The name Kateha comes from the old Arabic word "Al katifa" which means pile carpet.

Kateha has many years of experience in textile production. The company has a close-knit working community, producing rugs in both Europe and India to ensure that all rugs are produced to the highest standard and under socially just conditions. All rugs are handwoven, tufted or knotted by skilled artisans using natural materials such as wool or flax.
