The glass shade is mouth-blown in three layers and has an opal core. However, the edge of the fixture is clear, giving it a beautiful halo. The lamp's construction makes it completely glare-free. The minimalist lamp was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959 for the Rødovre Town Hall.
