About Morakniv

In the North of Sweden lies a small town of Mora, which has a 400-year tradition of knife making. The successful journey for the brand Morakniv began in 1891 when Frost-Erik Erson returned home to the village of Östnor, close to Mora, after spending a few years in North America. He soon founded a local factory, which grew into the brand Morakniv as we know it today.

Initially, the factory manufactured knives for internal use only but as demand increased, the range and popularity of knives also increased. Thanks to this long tradition of knife making, Morakniv products are now a concept celebrated beyond the borders of the country.

All knives are still manufactured using traditional craftsmanship at the factory in Mora. Around 7000 blades are produced per hour but the secret of the hard and sharp steel remains concealed to this day. When the blades are ready to be ground, their final shape depends on which model and what finished properties each knife should have. The polishing of the blade completes the process and this is done by hand using a wooden shaft. The classic red handle is a signature of the brand and appears on several of their models.

All knives from Morakniv are known to maintain the highest quality and consistency. The kitchen knives that have been popularised by both professionals and home cooks perform with both beauty and ease in the kitchen environment!
