Robert Welch, one of Britain’s most renowned designers, began designing products as early as 1955, when he completed his studies at the Royal College of Art in London. His idea from the very beginning was to produce useful and affordable products with timeless design. This has resulted in stainless steel cutlery series in exceptionally high quality, as well as other stylish products for the kitchen, home and for dining.
In the start of the 1990’s Robert’s son and daughter, Rupert and Alice Welch joined the company. Today, they continue to use the legacy of their father by staying true to his original design ethos, but at the same time evolving it further.
In Robert Welch’s large assortment of high-quality products, there are many popular items with iconic designs.

While stainless-steel cutlery by Robert Welch is dishwasher friendly, it is recommended to wash it by hand. First rinse your cutlery well directly after use to remove food pieces. Then wash gently with warm soapy water and a cloth. The cutlery should not be soaked. After washing, dry your cutlery with a kitchen towel.
If you wash your cutlery in the dishwasher, it is advised to clean them on a short cycle (67 to 75 degrees) and to use all-in-one dishwasher tablets.
For black-handled cutlery, mineral oil can be applied occasionally to the handles for them to maintain the colour.
Since the start of the company, Robert Welch has been actively working to create products in a sustainable way that takes the environment into consideration.
Firstly, stainless steel is a sustainable material that is both durable as long lasting. This means less waste, as stainless-steel products can be used and passed down for years to come.
In addition, when products do need to be disposed of, they can always be recycled, as stainless steel is an infinitely recyclable material.
Robert Welch is also working on sustainability in other aspects of the company such as the packaging. They are currently working on renewing their packaging to use fully recyclable boxes and the brochures produced use PEFC certified paper where possible.
