The History of Royal Doulton

Royal Doulton’s history goes all the way back to when John Doultion buys a pot-house in London. The company became a pioneer in the ceramics industry, giving fruition to many new ideas and techniques, and John’s son, Henry Doulton became the first potter in history to be awarded the knighthood. It is not until 1901 that the company takes the name Royal Doulton, after receiving a Royal Warrant, allowing them to use the word Royal in their name.
