Their goal is for both the choice of materials and the production processes to have as little environmental impact as possible. Here at Nordic Nest, you can find fine and high-quality blankets from Stackelbergs, and you are sure to find something that suits you and your decor.
Stackelbergs is a Swedish company that was founded in 2009 by Anna-Carin Stackelberg. Today, there is a showroom located at Grev Magnigatan 13 in Stockholm where it is possible to see and feel the products.
The blankets from Stackelbergs are manufactured in South Africa, which is where most mohair wool is produced. The animals graze freely on the farm where they reside and also during shearing. When the wool is washed, spun, dyed, and woven, it is done so carefully with respect for the material. All dyes used are Eco-certified and in most cases, the production can be traced back to the farm that sheared the goats.
Mohair is a soft and smooth wool that has a beautiful and natural shine. The softness of the wool depends on the age of the goats and the time of year they are sheared. The softest mohair wool comes from lambs and is called "kid mohair." The majority of the wool is from adult goats and they are sheared twice a year. The wool from one goat is just enough for one blanket.
With frequent use, the fibers become slightly compacted over time. It is then easy to make the blanket nearly new again by using a mohair brush, dish brush, or clothing brush to fluff it up. If there are stains on the blanket, they can be easily removed with a mild cleaning agent and a damp cloth. It is recommended to air out the blanket regularly, but if it must be washed, dry cleaning is the way to go.
