Aino-Maija Metsola

Aino-Maija Metsole is a Finnish illustrator and designer. After the completion of her degree in graphic design at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, she has worked as a freelancer for different brands and companies, including the popular Finnish classic Marimekko. Since 2006 she has created and designed patterns for Marimekko, including the popular Juhannustaika, Jurmo and Weather Diary patterns.

Aino-Maija loves experimenting with colour. Her designs often use bold colours, unique combinations with inspiration taken directly from the Finnish landscape. Aino-Maija Metsola works with different techniques, but her most popular designs have been created with humble watercolour. From a very early age, Aino-Maija has painted and created and has used the same watercolour case since she was 14 years old.
