Alfredo Häberli

Alfredo Häberli was born in Buenos Aires in 1964 but moved to Switzerland as a teenager. He studied industrial design at the “Höhere Schule für Gestaltung”, School of Design, in Zürich, the same place his design studio is based today. Today he works for some of the world’s leading design brands including Iittala, Georg Jensen and Vitra. His designs are heavily influenced by his early childhood in Argentina, his curiosity and observations of everyday life. For Alfredo Häberli it is of utmost importance that his designs are made to be used. This notion is the origin of all of his designs.

One of Alfro Häberlis’ most popular product ranges is the glass range Essence, produced by Iittala. When designing this range, Häberlis wanted to create a glass range for both festive and everyday occasions and designs that would work for as many types of wine as possible. He aimed to find the perfect balance between tradition and innovation, special occasions and every day in order to create a range that could do it all.

Besides designing glassware, Alfredo Häberlis designs porcelain, furniture, lighting and textiles.
