Claesson Koivisto Rune

Claesson Koivisto Rune, individually known as Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune all met at art school and opened their own architectural office in 1995. Today the agency has evolved into a multidisciplinary studio that attaches the same importance to architecture as to product design. Over the years, they have assembled a bursting portfolio containing everything from buildings and hotels to toothbrushes, furniture and lighting.

Due to their backgrounds as both designers and architects, Claesson Koivisto Rune consider all design in the larger context. Their interdisciplinary approach is typical of the Scandinavian tradition and inspires all their products. Due to the three different personalities in the trio, the style is difficult to define exactly but the words ‘minimalist’ and ‘simple’ are frequently used.

Claesson Koivisto Rune has become a big name both in Sweden and beyond. They have won over 60 design awards such as Designer of the Year and the Red Dot Design Award. A particularly prominent achievement was to be the first Swedish architects exhibited at the International Department of the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2004.
