Erik Magnussen graduated as a ceramist from the School of Applied Arts in Copenhagen with a silver medal in 1960. For several years he worked at a porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl where he designed simple and geometric pieces. Erik Magnussen also worked for brands such as Fritz Hansen and Georg Jensen but his collaboration with Stelton is perhaps the most famous. This produced the classic thermal flask EM77.
The thermal flask EM77 is one of Stelton’s top sellers and has been produced over 10 million times. This piece is considered one of the biggest design icons to be produced in Denmark and in many ways it contributed to the Danish design identity around the world. The thermal flask EM77 is also a typical example of Erik Magnussen’s simple and functional design character.
