Mats Theselius is a Swedish furniture designer from Stockholm who studied interior architecture at the College of Arts, Crafts and Design, Stockholm at the end of the 1970's.
Theselius is responsible for several of the 1990's famous Swedish furniture designs and his works are often described as genius and unique.
His designs are aimed towards the Scandinavian market but his works also appeal to an international audience. Theselius debuted in 1985 with the Elder Leather Seat, a cylindrical armchair in moose leather that has become a true design classic.
Another iconic product he became famous for is the 1988 glass bookcase that holds 25 vintage copies of the National Geographic magazine and is therefore lacquered in the same yellow cover colour of the magazine.
During his career as a designer, Theselius has received a huge array of honoured prizes and awards, including the Bruno Mathsson Prize in 1997. Mats Theselius is a household name when talking about Swedish furniture design and his timeless designs are still hugely relevant today.
