Ristomatti Ratia

Ristomatti Ratia is a Finnish designer born in 1941 in Helsinki. He is the son of Armi Ratis, the founder of Marimekko.

Ristomatti is the master-mind behind a collection of products, many of which have become well-known and appreciated as classics worldwide.

He is most famous for his shoulder bag, which he launched for Marimekko in 1970 but also for the Palaset collection.

When he creates new products, he is inspired by different interiors and his products are characterised by quality design, freshness and a simple elegance.

With Marimekko, Ristomatti has created a variety of bags that are both functional and timeless in their design. He has also created products for his own brand and clothing for others.
