Verner Panton had a vibrant personality and is known to be a designer ahead of his time. At first, the Danes were sceptical and had difficulty replacing their traditional idea of furniture with Panton's futuristic designs. But today Verner Panton is seen as a pioneer in Danish design.
Verner Panton studied architecture at the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen and then started work in Arne Jacobsen's Architectural Office. Two years later, he opened his own design agency, from which he designed countless classics like the Flowerpot lamp and the Panton Chair, which are moulded in a single piece of plastic. The first inflatable furniture and a chair without legs are just a few results of Verner Panton's endless imagination.
The provocative materials, organic forms and psychedelic colours distinguish Verner Panton from his contemporary colleagues. Verner Panton was truly unique in his kind and has won several great prizes for his freethinking works.
