A stainless-steel frying pan becomes shiny and clean using a real housewife trick: water & vinegar!
Depending on the type of frying pan you have, the care advice will differ but here are some general tips and tricks to help your frying pan last through many delicious cooking opportunities.
One of the best things about a stainless-steel frying pan is that you you can use any type of kitchen utensils in different materials without worrying about damaging it.
Burned food in your frying pan? Don’t worry, when the frying pan has cooled, you can pour water into it and heat it again and the burn will release.
A stainless-steel frying pan is dishwasher safe, but for longer life, hand washing with detergent and hot water is still recommended.
A stainless-steel frying pan is one of the easier frying pans to clean as they can be washed in a dishwasher, but the best way to clean your stainless-steel frying pan for longer life is still to wash it by hand in hot water. It is perfectly possible to use washing liquid for this frying pan and should there be stubborn stains left, you can always try to clean it with vinegar as previously mentioned.
A non-stick frying pan is generally easy to clean with detergent and water, but remember to only use kitchen utensils in wood, plastic or silicone.
A coated, non-stick, frying pan is easy to clean thanks to the coated surface that protects the food from sticking. Like a stainless-steel frying pan, a non-stick frying pan can be washed in a dishwasher, but the best results are obtained by hand washing and a mild detergent. Remember to only use wooden, silicone or plastic kitchen utensils when frying and cleaning a non-stick pan so as not to damage the coating.
Never wash your cast iron pan with detergent or in the dishwasher – this will remove the coating that keeps your pan looking as good as new. Hot water alone goes a long way!
When a cast iron frying pan is seasoned properly with cooking oil, which forms a protective layer, it is very important that you only clean it with hot water and a dish brush - no detergent. A cast iron pan must therefore not be washed in a dishwasher, but you can use steel wool or a wire brush to clean it with if you have stains that cannot be removed with water only.
To season (or re-season) your cast iron frying pan:
A copper frying pan can change colour due to overheating, among other things - polish it with vinegar and salt for a copper pan that looks as good as new!

However, keep in mind that a copper frying pan can change colour over time due to overheating or being placed too often in the dishwasher. However, a little salt and vinegar comes in handy to polish your copper and remove discoloration.
