A small family run business Grythyttan, started life in a town of the same name and “has always been an important part of the community” says Karl Lindqvist, Senior Board member for Grythyttan, whose Great Grandfather also happens to have founded the company.
It was Karl’s Grandfather Arthur who began the production of the furniture we know and love today. His vision was to create beautiful furniture that would last a lifetime, a vision that continues to drive the brand forward today.
COMMITED TO SLOW PRODUCTION
What sets Grythyttan apart is its unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability. Every piece of furniture is meticulously crafted in Sweden, using quality wood that is both FSC and PESFC certified, reflecting the brand's dedication to supporting local communities and minimizing its environmental footprint.
Due to stringent quality controls Grythyttan are only able to produce a limited number of furniture pieces each year. “We feel it is very important that the people who make our furniture should have the time to craft each piece, the time to take each piece of wood and ensure that they are the best possible match, if we speed up production too much then we do not have the time to get to know our furniture in this way.” Explains Karl.

We are still selling spare parts for furniture that my Grandfather sold” laughs Karl.
This little fact is no doubt impressive, but it also testament to the durability and reusable nature of Grythyttan’s designs. You can find spare parts to a number of their iconic furniture pieces allowing furniture to be renovated, reused and loved again and again. That fabulous dining set that belonged to your Grandmother can be restored to its former glory, ready to hear the stories of another generation, for more years of laughter in the garden. “That’s the beauty of a quality piece of outdoor furniture, it holds value in the memories.” Concludes Karl, warmly.
