THE SPARK THAT IGNITED TINTED OBJECTS

Could you imagine starting a business with your colleague? That's what Karin Westas Norlander and Monika Mellin did when they decided to take their experience and interest in fashion - into the world of interior design.

When we worked together, we realised that we had the same driving forces and goals, but above all, we had a lot of fun together! Says Karin.

The colleagues of 20 years chose to invest in their passion and the result was a new interior design brand with a strong design language and clear visual identity. The dynamic duo entered the design scene in early 2023 and suddenly the name Tinted Objects was on everyone's lips.

GET TINTED

Fashion and interior design have traditionally been seen as separate entities, but in recent years we've seen the two industries move closer and closer. And that's where Tinted Objects steps in, as an incredibly stylish and well-dressed link between the two worlds.

“We see a big interplay between [fashion and interior design], very much based on the desire to express one's personality or just a love of dressing and creating exciting rooms or homes. Having worked in fashion for 20 years, it also comes naturally to us," says Monika and continues:

“The inspiration for fashion, patterned shapes and colours is the same for both.” She concludes.

The beautiful range of rugs, textiles and furnishings feels as carefully selected as any dream wardrobe. A wardrobe where each design has its own personality. So, what does it mean to "Get tinted"?

"Creating beautiful interiors to enjoy, sometimes with something small, sometimes with something larger. [The wool rug] Stenborg for example, is a strong and fun character that takes over the room, while Wahl is both subtle and elegant - but both are Tinted." Monika explains.

INTERIOR DESIGN THAT DOESN'T FOLLOW THE RULES

We love mixing different style elements and not being bound by rules. Each rug is unique, and we loved giving them a name and describing their personalities in a fun way where each design is different just like we are," says Karin.

“We are inspired by beautiful materials and colours, and often the creative process starts with that. We have chosen to call our style eclectic and minimalist, to keep both the clashes of style and the simple stripped-down aesthetic in our design.”

Textiles and furnishings are often items that help you create the feeling of home. They are items that make it cosy while also allowing you to experiment with styles. So how would Karin and Monika describe their interior design styles?

“Karin is great at picking out rooms that she wants to change, preferably according to feeling and mood. She is daring and it looks great, for example by painting the room in a lovely colour that makes the Mellin rug really pop,” says Monika and Karin continues:

"Monika's style is a mix of vintage and auction finds, preferably Italian retro. She has a Norlander that feels completely natural in her home along with all sorts of different things.”

Tinted brings stylish, fun and personalised interior design to the home without compromising on quality. So, what does the future hold for this new design brand?

“It's nice to think that our products can live on for generations to come,” says Karin.

"A home is like fashion, it should feel personal and like an extended expression of those who live there. Maybe with a few flaws but nonetheless, absolutely perfect!” She concludes.
