Inspired by the sun, Iittala’s latest collection Solare aims to transform the dining experience.
"This collection builds on our previous collection Kaamos - after darkness comes light," says Iittala's Creative Director, Janni Vepsäläinen, of Solare.
While the Kaamos collection was inspired by the polar night, Solare represents the return of the long-awaited light. This is a part of Nordic culture that takes on an almost ritualistic nature and is something that Iittala manages to capture so effectively in Solare's energetic colours and playful shapes while remaining firmly rooted in Iittala's rich craftsmanship heritage.
The design process behind Solare emphasises both functionality and beauty. Mouth-blown glassware, meticulously crafted at Iittala's factory in Finland, Solare plays with light and reflections, while the glasses have a clear function on the dining table the vibrant shades and playful shapes provide an eye-catching talking piece. The glassware is complimented with bold ceramic pieces that bring an equally vibrant energy to any table.
