@Our_home_living’s Instagram profile is full of perfectly curated images of the creator Damira’s home. Subtle tones of beige and white work harmoniously with natural materials and styling that is effortlessly elegant. We wanted to know what inspires her when it comes to decorating her home:
I would say my interior style is a mix between a modern and a Scandinavian style. I like light wood, simplicity and neutral tones.
Beige tone on tone with neutral shades and natural materials creates a calming atmosphere in the bedroom.
And of course we wanted to know how she creates that perfect balance:
I like to create mood boards with furniture & accessories to better imagine it. Mostly I get my inspiration from Instagram & Pinterest, but also from magazines and current trends.
The most important factor for me when designing a room is the red thread. I like all the rooms in my home to fit in with the rest and, of course, with me. Mixing all styles of interior design is out of the question.
The Theo teapot and matching mugs both from Stelton, accompanied by the Norr tray in natural oak from Skagerak are perfect for your morning cup of tea or coffee in bed.
The key to a great night’s sleep is a harmonious and calming bedroom. One of this year’s most popular trends, Nurture is all about creating harmony and balance in the home. Taking inspiration from this trend we can find elements that create the perfect Scandinavian bedroom. A Scandi bedroom is form and function in perfect balance with a peaceful and calming atmosphere. A neutral colour palette is a must for this style, coupled with simple, natural-coloured bed-sheets and soothing natural materials such as bare wood. Damira combines greige walls with a feature wall-come-headboard, a natural linen bed-throw and carefully chosen statement furniture in the same tones of beige and wood.
Fresh flowers in a lovely vase and scented candles like the Tuck candle from Ferm Living round off a room.
Now you have the basics to create your own Scandinavian style bedroom you need to narrow down the essentials. Damira states that she wanted to create a warm and cosy atmosphere in her Scandi style bedroom where warm and neutral tones were in the foreground. She used soft lighting in the form of the Night Owl table lamp, scented candles and diffusers from Skandinavisk, and fresh flowers in the stunning Balloon vase from Louise Roe Copenhagen to round off the whole look.
Natural materials such as this Alza marble bowl from Ferm Living add a hint of luxury whilst scented candles and diffusers from Skandinavisk create a spa like atmosphere.
We hope we have inspired you to create your very own slice of Scandinavia in your bedroom.
