1. Don't make it perfect
Danish interior isn’t about making it perfect. A true Danish home will seamlessly merge old, new, neutral and colourful. A perfectly arranged poster wall can certainly be part of a Danish home – but add an unexpected sculpture on the side table underneath it to mix it up and make it look effortless.
Don’t try to copy someone else’s home and don’t try to make it perfect. Danish homes are about functionality and personality. Keep that souvenir from that time you were backpacking for 3 months. Keep that odd pillow that doesn’t quite go with the rest of your home. It all adds to making the home you.

3. Go BOLD. Sometimes
Danish interior is a little braver than we would expect from its other Scandinavian neighbours. Whilst light wood is a staple material in all Scandinavian design, Danish interior might include a whole set of black-stained chairs around the dinner table. Or it might be a bright colour-blocking rug. Or why not one chair that doesn’t match the rest? Dare to go a little bolder in Danish interior, but don’t overdo it. 4. Use lamps as accent piece
If Danish design is known for being the best at one thing, it’s lamps. Some of the world’s most renowned lamp designs originate from this small 5-million inhabitant country. A Danish design lamp will add a Nordic touch to any interior and will last you for years to come. Many of the design lamps of the 50s and 60s are still in production today and are just as popular as they were back then.
