Screwed coatstand from Essem Design is designed by Studio Dejawu, who came to Sweden in 2011 and was immediately fascinated by Scandinavian design and craftsmanship. He noticed the traditional carpentry bench found in Sweden. The benches have wooden screws used to tighten and loosen the grip on a piece of wood being sawed, chiselled, or drilled. This became the inspiration for Screwed, a coat stand that gives the wooden screws a new purpose. Items can be hung from either side and it is possible to assemble without using any tools. Screwed is made of stained solid beech, has four adjustable wooden screws, and is delivered unassembled.
