The glass is mouth blown. Air bubbles and differences in thickness may occur.
PH 3½-2½ table lamp from Louis Poulsen is perfectly suited as a reading lamp on, for example, a desk or side table and comes in various colors so you can choose the one that fits best in your home. The top shade is made of aluminum with a white painted underside, while the middle and bottom shades are made of mouth-blown opal glass that is glossy on the outside and matte sandblasted on the inside. The combination of materials utilizes the light source more efficiently as light is directed downwards through reflection from the underside of the top shade. This provides a comfortable, functional, and completely glare-free light. The iconic three-shade system was designed by Danish Poul Henningsen, who in collaboration with Louis Poulsen designed the first PH lamps in 1925-1926 for an exhibition in Paris. Here, he has used a scientific perspective as the lamp is based on the logarithmic spiral, a mathematical spiral curve that occurs in many places in nature. This provides an even distribution across the entire curve of the shade. The version with an aluminum top shade is based on the original drawings and was designed in 1928. The stand is made of silk matte brown painted brass, giving it the same appearance as the bronzed brass lamps of that time. Bronzing is today a process that has been discontinued for environmental reasons. The numbers of the PH lamps refer to the size of the shades, and the letters are derived from the designer's initials. Feel free to explore the wide range of PH lamps.
