This Unikko linen fabric from the Finnish brand Marimekko is an absolutely stunning cloth that can be used for all sorts of creations. The fabric has been adorned with the popular Unikko pattern, reproduced here in soft, earthy tones. The Unikko pattern was originally designed by Maija & Kristina Isola in 1964 after Marimekko's founder, Armi Ratia, announced an all-out ban on floral patterns. Despite this, Maija Isola managed to persuade her otherwise with this stylized depiction of majestic poppy flowers — thus the Unikko pattern was born. Since that time, the iconic design has become something of a signature pattern for Marimekko, and a well-loved aesthetic by many all over the world.
