The bed is said to be the piece of furniture we spend the most time in during a lifetime. It's where we start and end each day. A comfortable bed is therefore very important, but just as important are comfortable bed linens. Pillowcases, or pillow covers as they are also called, are a central part of bed linens. Here we have gathered our large and varied assortment of pillowcases from well-known and popular brands. Welcome to find your new pillowcases!
There is no clear explanation for why pillowcases are called just that. The word pillowcase already existed in Old Swedish but then as örngat. Öra in plural was örn and gat meant comfort. When the word gat disappeared, it is said that it was renamed to pillowcase to be associated with the adjective good, as in it is good for the ears to rest against a pillowcase.
In Sweden, 50x60 is the standard size for pillowcases. 50x90 is also a common size. If you want to make the bed extra luxurious, it's nice to place these larger pillows in the back and then fill up with smaller ones in front. The most common sizes of pillowcases that we have are:
Pillowcase 50x60
Pillowcase 65x65
Pillowcase 50x90
You should wash your bed linens at least once every two weeks, but preferably once a week. Both linen and cotton pillowcases usually withstand 60 degrees, but to be on the safe side, it might be good to look at the label before washing.
