Matti Klenell

The Swedish designer Matti Klenell is probably most known for his exploration of the Nordic design philosophy. He has a simple, scaled-back style and is a master at creating fantastic objects with a few strokes of a pen.

Matti Klenell was brought up in a multi-cultural family. Both parents were glass artists with their own studio. His choice in career was simple – he wanted to work with design. Klenell studied both at the Art Academy in Stockholm and School of Architecture in Copenhagen before starting his own design studio in 2010. He has designed products for numerous renowned brands, including Iittala and Örsjö Belysning. His signature design, the Iittala Lempi glass, has resulted in numerous design awards, including the Red Dot Award.
